Boy Scout Troop 262 from Lees Summit, Missouri held its August campout at Jacobs Cave near Gravois Mill, Missouri on Aug. 13 to 14.

Within the Girl Scouts of the USA, the highest achievement that can be earned is the Gold Award. According to Wikipedia only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts successfully earn this award. Summit for the Heart, a 5k Run/Walk held August 7th is the vehicle Emily Patton chose to earn her Gold Award.

As the paddles hit the Minnesota waters, the two crews from Troop 220, from the Lee’s Summit Christian Church headed two different directions to find their own adventure at the Charles L. Sommers Boy Scout’s Northern Tier Base.

| Thousands, maybe even millions of scouts, both boys and men, with their families celebrated the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts in America throughout the 2010 year. I have shared in many of the celebrations with my family. As well. But I realized with each month that I found myself growing as a scout. These are my monthly blogs, or thoughts, throughout this year. |

On December 11, 27 Boy Scouts and 20 leaders from Troop 220 headed out to the great white wonder of Alaska. Okay -- they never really left Jackson County -- but for Saturday, everyone let their imaginations take them to an Alaskan Dog Race, termed Klondike Derby. Each of the four teams built a sled that would carry what they would need to make it through the course. The boys would be the pulling power to move their sleds.
