Adam Hall of Boy Scout Troop 366, will be conducting a drive for baby items for his Eagle Scout project at the Hy-Vee store, 3rd & Ward Streets, Lee’s Summit, on Sun., May 2, from 9am to 5pm. The drive benefits Lee’s Summit Social Services.
Having lived in Lee’s Summit since 2000, Hall wanted his Eagle Project to benefit the people or community of Lee’s Summit. After talking with Geneva High, Executive Director of Lee’s Summit Social Services, he found out there was a vital need at the agency for baby donations. Hall and his team of Scouts and other volunteers will be in front of the store, handing out flyers with a list of necessary items so Hy-Vee customers will be able to purchase the needed items while shopping and make their donation upon leaving the store.
Hall has received many items since his project first received approval in December, 2009, but the all-day collection at Hy-Vee will be the culmination of his Eagle Scout project. Among the items needed are: diapers, formula, baby food, wipes, infant toys, clothes, blankets, etc. The preference is for new items purchased that day, but any baby item in good shape will be accepted.
“I’d like to thank Steve Culbertson, manager of the Hy-Vee store, for approving my request to set up tables and use his store as a collection point. It’s especially great that I’ll be able to donate the items to Lee’s Summit Social Services right before Mother’s Day,” said Hall. He has been a member of Troop 366, based at the Community of Christ Church, 1101 NE Independence, Lee’s Summit, since 2002. An Eagle Scout must have completed at least 21 merit badges and organized a service project that benefits his church, community or school. Hall is a senior at Lee’s Summit West High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, the Freshman Mentor program, and Titan Television. He was on the boys varsity swim team all four years and managed the girls swim team when he was a sophomore. He has been on the principal’s honor roll or honor roll throughout high school and has received an academic letter. Adam is the son of Darla Hall.
