Girl Scout Service Unit 648 in Lee’s Summit hosted a terrific week of Explore and Discover Day Camp at Lake Jacomo this past week. Over 150 Girl Scouts attended with the work of over 60 adult helpers and 20 teen helpers.
Camp was under the staff leadership of Cheryl Immethun, Rhonda Saleski, and Michelle Ahern. Girls learned how to cook in different methods, use compasses, tie knots, cross a rope bridge, make a birdhouse out of recyclables, and many, many other activities. But having fun wasn’t the only thing they did; they also did 2 service projects. They painted tote bags to donate to the woman at the VA hospital and they collected over 200 canned goods for Lee’s Summit Social Services.
Way to go Girl Scouts! A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen. Can’t wait until next year.
