O'HARA CELTICS DO THEIR PART IN MO-KAN GAME

April 11,2010
By Brother Richard

Scoring 90 points was not quite enough for the Missouri girls team to win the All-Star Challenge MO-KAN game on April 10th as the Kansas Stars won by three. Except for the second quarter when the Kansas Stars out played their opponents 22-19, the two squads matched points quarter by quarter.
Of the four Missouri players that reached double figures, Alex Smith from Archbishop O'Hara High School scored 11 points. She was joined by Tanchelle Hollingsworth from Raytown South who had 20, Kassidy Ritchel from Truman with 13, and C. L. Wesemann from Pleasant Hill with 11. Two of Smith's baskets were three-point shots.
O'Hara's Hailey Houser, a member of the 4-A Missouri All-State First Team, had 7 points in the contest.
The O'Hara team of Smith and Houser came in 3rd in State with a 24-7 record and were ranked 5th in the Girls Big Class in the Kansas City Star's final rankings of the 2009-2010 season.
In The All-Metro Basketball Team, Hailey Houser was given an Honorable Mention which was announced on the same day as the MO-KAN game.
