May 15, 2010
Mark Scanlon has been named the Men’s Basketball coach for the 2010-2011 season at Archbishop O’Hara High School. Scanlon takes the place of Todd Magwire who announced his decision to leave O’Hara earlier this month.
Scanlon is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and holds a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Ottawa University. He brings more than 30 years of head basketball coaching experience to the Celtics.
Under Scanlon’s tutelage, his teams have won numerous Conference, District and Sectional titles. He is a member of the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Lambert Award and the Eddie Ryan Award and has been named Metro basketball coach of the year. During the 2009-10 season, at Northeast High School, Scanlon coached the 2010 Direnna winner, Daylen Robinson.
Coach Scanlon will begin his duties at O’Hara in June, administrating the Boys Basketball Summer camps.
Scanlon and his family are members of Our Lady of the Presentation Parish in Lee’s Summit.
Archbishop O’Hara High School is a college-prep, co-ed Catholic school located in southeast Kansas City.
