12.01.09 1:08pm Will Kraus Announces for Missouri State Senate
State Representative Will Kraus (R-Lee’s Summit ) announced today that he will be running for the Missouri State Senate in District 8. The district, currently represented by Senator Matt Bartle, encompasses much of Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs in Eastern Jackson County .
Kraus is in his third term representing District 48, serving portions of Lee’s Summit , Kansas City and Raytown .
“The people in the 8th Senate District have been represented by a Senator who is consistently conservative and whose ethical standards are unchallenged,” said Kraus. “It is important that Eastern Jackson County continues to have a Senator with those same conservative principles and high moral standards.”
Kraus already has the support of many leaders in the community including former state senator Jim Taylor, County Legislator Bob Spence, local small business owners, Lanny Dillenschneider, Harry Foster, Wayne Retherford, Mike Smith, Gary Walker, and community leaders like Tom Jackson.
“People want leadership from their representatives in Jefferson City,” said Kraus. “Too many politicians there are beholden to the entrenched special interests and lobbyists. I promise that I will do what’s right for Eastern Jackson County and not high-powered lobbyists.”
In addition to his current representation of District 48, Kraus serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. This summer Kraus represented his country in trips to Canada, and a month-long humanitarian mission to Uganda.
Kraus, his wife Carmen, and their children Tylor and Tannor live in Lee’s Summit . Kraus is active in the PTA, Rotary, has coached many of his sons’ sports teams, and is active in several veterans’ organizations.
