Lee’s Summit Gateways Business Alliance Supports Airport Expansion
LEE’S SUMMIT, MO (October 9, 2009) — At its bi-monthly meeting held on September 28, members of the Lee’s Summit Gateways Business Alliance (LSGBA) voted in favor of a Resolution of Support for the Implementation of the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport Master Plan and the Ratification of the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport Business Plan. The resolution is supported by 26 companies that employ 1,781 in Lee’s Summit.
“The Lee’s Summit Gateways Business Alliance provides a venue for community CEOs to discuss areas of mutual concern and develop action plans to address them,” said Rich Herbst, Chairman of the Alliance and General Manager, Toys“R”Us, Inc. Distribution Center in Lee’s Summit. “As business and community leaders, we think it’s important to let the Mayor and City Council know that we support moving forward with the proposed airport expansion.”
The Airport Business Plan, which recommends expansion of the runway to 5,300 feet to increase revenues and business development, will be discussed at a City Council work session on October 15 at 5:30 p.m. The full LSGBA Resolution is attached.
