March 4, 2010
11:23am

Press release just received:
"The purpose of this release is to withdraw from the city council race for District 2.  Due to my business
expansion in 2010 I do not feel I am able to dedicate the necessary time to represent the citizens of District 2."

Mark Smith further states, " I am endorsing Bryan Whitley who is current on the 360 plan and has proven leadership
in the community.  I would like to thank all of the support that has been given to me, and look forward to
community service in the future."

Sincerely,
Mark A Smith

According to the Jackson County Election Board, Mr Smith would need to file with the Circuit Court of his withdraw
to remove his name from the ballot.  Although the ballots have been at the printer for a week.  Mr Smith has not
returned the Tribune's phone call.
