Thursday evening, 08-26-10, at 9:05 pm officers were dispatched to 1680 NW Chipman Road (Bob Evans Restaurant) on what was believed to be an attempted armed robbery. Employees reported a dishwasher was accosted outside the rear of the business and forced back inside by a black male with a handgun. Once inside a second black male also entered the business carrying a handgun. All employees (5) and customers (13) were told to get on the ground by the suspects and followed orders without incident. The two suspects then ran through the business, jumped over counters and appeared as if they were looking for something in particular before leaving the business. The suspects left the business out a rear door but at no time did either suspect demand money from customers, employees or take money from the cash register.
Employees and customers described the suspects as two black males; the first being 6’ wearing denim shorts and a white shirt with multiple colors on it, the second suspect was taller with a plain white t-shirt. Both suspects were wearing white bandanas during the incident and both held semi-automatic handguns. The weapons were not fired and no customers or employees were hurt during the incident.

Brazen boys. There are a LOT of us in the Lee's Summit area carrying more than just a CCP. If mine ever comes out of the holster, I don't intend to intimidate anyone - I will use it to stop the crime.
