Fire Heavily Damages Lee's Summit Home

On Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 7:30 PM, the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to reported structure fire at 1761 SE Silkwood Lane. Multiple callers reported an explosion and fire at the residence.

When the fire department arrived, fire was coming from the basement garage and much of the bedroom area of the single family, split-level structure. The occupants of the structure were outside.

Firefighters immediately went to a defensive attack on the fire. The fire had spread throughout the garage, bedrooms. and through the roof. The fire was under control by 8:11 PM. The fire heavily damaged much of the structure.

An occupant of the residence was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

Fire department operations are ongoing at the time of this News Release.
