CITY COUNCIL ACTION LETTER
CITY OF LEE’S SUMMIT

Thursday, April 22, 2010

REGULAR SESSION NO. 56

6:30 P.M.  Mayor Messerli called Regular Session No. 56 to order.

Invocation –Reverend Hubert Neth

Roll Call –
Councilmember Jim Hallam                 Present        Councilmember Kathy Hofmann         Present

City Manager, Steve Arbo, and City Attorney, Teresa Williams, were also present.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  Mayor Messerli continued Item 4.B to the May 6, 2010 Regular Session.   On motion of Councilmember Cockrell, second by Councilmember Swearngin, voted unanimously to approve the published agenda.

1.    PUBLIC COMMENTS:    Ms. Kathy Smith invited Mayor, Council and citizens to participate in the National History Month.  
2.    COUNCIL COMMENTS:   There were no Council comments.
3.    APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA:
                   COUNCIL ACTION:  On motion of Councilmember Cockrell, second by Councilmember Hofmann, the Council voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, as follows:
A.    PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT:
1)    Approval of Special Event for Celebration on Fascination, on May 8, 2010
2)    Approval of Special Event for 9th Annual Lakewood Run/Walk for the Dogs in the Lakewood Subdivision on May 15, 2010; Heart of America Humane Society, applicant.
3)    Approval of Special Event for The Kansas City Triathlon at Longview Lake on May 23, 2010; Heartland Sports Promotions, applicant.

4)    Approval of Special Event for Lee’s Summit West High School Midsummer Twilight 5K Run on July 16, 2010; Lee’s Summit West High School, applicant.

B.    FIRE DEPARTMENT:  Hazardous Materials Permit Application for Westlake Hardware, 103 SE M-291 Highway.

4.    PROPOSED ORDINANCES:

A.    BILL NO. 10-41  AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE APRIL 6, 2010, GENERAL ELECTION FOR MUNICIPAL OFFICERS FOR THE CITY OF LEE'S SUMMIT, MISSOURI.)
COUNCIL ACTION: On motion of Councilmember Hallam, second by Councilmember Cockrell, voted unanimously to approve and numbered ORDINANCE NO. 6920.



5.    PRESENTATION:

A.    Presentation of Plaques to out-going elected officials.
NO COUNCIL ACTION REQUIRED


6.    COMMITTEE REPORTS:  

•    There were no Committee Reports.


7.     ROUNDTABLE:   

•    Councilmember Hallam advised there will be an additional event in the Mayor’s honor at a later date.

•    Councilmember Gray thanked Mayor Messerli for her service to the community.

•    Councilmember Hofmann thanked Mayor Messerli and wished her well in the future.
